I just finished reading Six Pixels of Separation: Everyone is Connected. Connect Your Business to Everyone. by Mitch Joel. I’ve been listening to his podcast of the same name Six Pixels of Separation for a few years now, as well as his latest podcast Media Hacks.

I highly recommend this book as well as the podcast by the same name to anyone that works in the field of Marketing. It is filled with thoughtful insights at a high level. This book is rich in strategy. It explains the what and the why. Far too often people jump in head first with the latest shiny object to hit the market (twitter, facebook, etc) without really understanding how a particular social media tool might fit in with their overall communications and marketing strategy. Mitch does a great job at introducing a concept and tying it back to a real world examples. Culture and business is on the verge of a massive change and this book is a great primer on the effects those changes are going to have on business, society and even individually on a personal brand level.

Overall, this is a very well written book for any business owner. Mitch will get you thinking and inspired. If you’re not already doing everything in this book from a marketing perspective you need to start today.
